Experiences and apprehension from the life of a new father.
It's still a bit early to start potty training, but we've been conditioning Giovanna by putting the potty in the bathroom. She likes to sit on it whenever anyone else uses the bigger potty.
She has a good grasp of the concepts. She gets a small handful of toilet paper and sits on her little potty. Then she wipes herself, stands up and tosses her paper in before closing the lid. Then she reaches under the sink and pretends to flush. To make the experience real, she makes a flushing sound with her mouth to complete the process.
Today, after she stood up, she spit into the potty and then flushed.
I know I didn't teach her that. I wonder where she learned it?

Music is something the really interests our daughter. She loves the shows "Dancing with the Stars" and "American Idol". They both have music, although she prefers the dancing because it gives her something to imitate while watching the show.
Tonight we were watching "American Idol" when one of the contestants became incredulous that she made it to Hollywood. Giovanna made a perfect imitation by placing both hands on her head and screaming, "oooohhh!"

Even though they don't often get time to themselves, parents are still a couple. They like to occasionally think they can act like they used to.
Last night was a potential chance for us to enjoy being a couple. I was lying on the bed as we were chatting and Fannie decided to rest her head on my stomach. I had eaten a large dinner, so I had the hiccups. As her head jiggled back and forth with each jerk of my body, Fannie decided it wasn't the relaxing moment she wanted.
Then the joy of our life came into the room. "Color, color?"
Not exactly the evening Fannie was hoping for.
