Experiences and apprehension from the life of a new father.
I came home late tonight and found my wife and daughter watching a Bollywood movie. The scene that was playing featured a boat full of people going off a cliff on a waterfall. Giovanna yelled, "Fall down," and then, "water, water", two of her favorite phrases.
I sat down to join them. The next scene was one of those music video / choreography numbers that every Indian movie has. Giovanna stood up on the couch and started dancing. A little later, another music scene occurred in a club. Giovanna started dancing again.
Fannie looked at me and said, "this girl is going to be a club girl."

Every week Fannie complains that I never notice her clothes when we go to church. When we come home she usually mentions that Father or Sister pointed out how well she looked.
Today I got a new competitive pressure. After Fannie was dressed, Giovanna came into our room. "I like this," she said as she held a piece of Fannie's dress.
"She's not even two yet," Fannie said, "and she knows more about treating people right than you do."

Tonight we had some guests over for dinner. When dinner ended we were sitting around talking, but Fannie wanted to get the dishes cleaned up.
Before I could get up to help, Giovanna ran up asking for my plate. We gave her the dishes and glasses one by one. She carried each one into the kitchen, scraped them into the trash and handed them to Fannie to rinse and put in the dishwasher. We never had to get up from the table and were able to finish our conversation.
How long can this possibly last?
